Afghan
transit trade concessions for India demanded
Islamabad,
Sept 08
Pak-India Business Council (PIBC) has demanded Afghan transit
trade facilities for India.
Chairman of the PIBC Hafiz Noor Mohammad Kasuri said in
a statement that grant of transit trade facilities would
give $ 20 billions benefits to Pakistan.
He said with grant of facilities bilateral economic and
industrial relations between Pakistan, India and Afghanistan
would be further strengthened, exploring new avenues.
He said India has a large trade base to export many articles
to help reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan
and $ 200 billion exports to Central Asian States giving
further revenue and more opportunities to Pakistan.
Kasuri hoped that the issue of transit trade would be resolved
during coming meeting of the President Pervez Musharraf
and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at New York at the
sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session.
PIBC chief welcomed opening of different routes between
Pakistan and India and demanded more routes for this purpose.
Kasuri vowed to hold trade promotion seminars in Lahore,
Delhi and Mumbai in which Mrs. Sona Gandhi, L. K. Advani,
President Pervez Musharraf, Ch. Shujat Hussain, Makhdoom
Amin Fahim and other leaders, prominent traders of both
countries would be invited.
